A lot of people on my team and in network marketing reach out to me daily. And I’m seeing the same questions pop up over and over. I wanted to help you and your business. Even if you’re not on my Oil Leadership team, but in another organization or company, I want to help you. A lot of people say that their friends and family are tired of hearing about their product or business. Or maybe they post about their business or products on Facebook or Instagram and no one responds. And that is frustrating! I have been there, believe me. But there is a better way to do it. And I want to share with you some of the things that have worked for me.
Network marketing is ALL about connections and relationships. If you don’t build relationships that are organic and genuine with people, you won’t have as much success. I can guarantee it. Love people, genuinely care for them, pray for them and be a positive influence on their life. Leave people better than when you found them. Pour into them. This is what it’s all about. Does this sound exhausting and hard? It might be! It’s new for some people. They haven’t really considered the level of personal development they must strive for to be successful. It is hard. But it is the best thing you’ll ever do and it is completely worth it.
Some of my closest friends and relationships have formed through network marketing. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today nor the wife and mother without persistent personal development over the years. That means working on myself harder than anything or anyone else so that I could pour into others. I can’t help other people if I’m not healthy physically, mentally and spiritually.
Want to start making changes that will help your business? Here are 5 steps to incorporate into your life today.
- Stop seeing people as walking Prospects
When you scroll through social media, comment on people’s lives. Stop thinking about your business. There is a time for that. This is a time to just love and genuinely engage with people. It’s not always going to be about you and your business. Be supportive of what they’re doing. If you sell doTERRA and they sell something different? No problem! Encourage, comment and love them. If you have 5,000 people on Facebook and you have NO idea who they are, how they know you, that could be a problem. Start investing in your community. Love them.
2. Be a Giver
Did someone in your community, church or neighborhood have a baby or a sudden loss? Make them a meal or buy them a gift card for food and drop it off with a card telling them that you’re thinking of them or congratulating them. Don’t look for anything in return. Just love on them with tangible ways. Tangible ways are the BEST ways to help someone when they are hurting or need help. It’s easy to say, “Call me if you need anything.” But let’s be honest, usually that is usually just words. I said I’m here, checking off that box. But most people won’t ever really call and don’t really ask for help. Just do it. Help them tangibly. Don’t talk business or anything about you. It’s about them. Love them and tell them you’re genuinely there for them. They’ll never forget that you did that.
3. Get out of the House
See a bible study at your church? A Mom’s group that meets up? Or a few moms at your gym that you notice are by themselves but have never spoken to? Take your headphones off at the gym and engage a little more. Sign up for a few things that interest you. Get involved. Make friendships where NO ONE knows what you do or sell. They just get to know YOU. Because when they get to know you, and love you they might just be more open down the road to supporting you by attending a class or meeting with you for coffee. But you won’t be able to do that if you don’t get out of the house and meet people.
I’ve heard this, “I only have 45 people liking my page or in my group.” That is AMAZING! That means there are 45 people who care about what YOU have to say! 45 people! Imagine them all lined up in front of you in a room listening to you speak. WOW. It is so humbling that 45 people care about what you have to say. When you’re faithful with the little things, you’ll be given more. Love those 45 people and pour into them like they are 4,500. Someday you WILL have 4,500 and you will know what to say and how to help them because you were so faithful with 45. Look at your business as a HUGE blessing and not just numbers, often numbers aren’t realistic anyway. You may have 45k followers but only 200 people actually read and buy your stuff.
You must grow as a person if you want your business to grow. This means stop Netflix binging and start reading inspirational books. It doesn’t even have to cost too much money.
