I married my high school sweetheart when I was nineteen and together we had four kids in just seven years! I never thought I would become a work-at-home mom—I had always just wanted to be a stay-at-home mom who took care of her kids—but then when my husband started working longer hours and I started feeling isolated doing all the mom stuff, so I knew I needed a change.
My sister-in-law suggested I start a blog … a blog? I didn’t even have time to read them, let alone write one. Plus, I felt guilty about taking time for myself (see self-care below), but I decided I would give it a try when I had some down time. On the blog, I decided to introduce a product I had used and sold before getting married—Shaklee.
As I started to market Shaklee and introduce it to the online world, I realized how much fun it was to run my own business. I would even stay up in the middle of the night working—that’s how much I loved it! It wasn’t something I did for the money; I did it for myself, for how it made me feel and for knowing that I was helping others.
From there, others soon wanted to join my business, so I created a team—a team that has now helped thousands get healthier—what an amazing thing to be part of!
I want to encourage people to make healthier choices, to break bad health habits, and to create a healthy lifestyle. I also want to show women that they can manage their home and raise a family, while also owning a business—they can dream again, they can do what they love, they can create passive income, and they can support their family all from the comforts of their home.
My daily self-care/self-love routine (because every girl needs one!):
So many women neglect caring for themselves—they put themselves last because they are so busy with other things … and then they burnout, their business falls apart, or they lose any drive they once had.
I neglected myself for years, until I realized that I wanted to be a better example for my kids and for my Shaklee team. And Iknew a little self-care would help me feel better, look better, and just all around be better. So I started by adding “me” to my daily schedule, whether it was for a long aromatherapy bath, a date night with the husband, a manicure and pedicure, a deep tissue massage, or an afternoon of shopping—I made and make time for me.
Achievements & Awards:
In December 2013, I was recognized in the Shaklee Top 10 for personal growth and volume sponsorship, and was among the VIPs in the industry! This was a huge achievement and honor for me.
Since I’ve started my business, I’ve helped over 100 women successfully launch their own businesses, I’ve been awarded trips and celebrity cruises for my high level of sales, and I now earn a full-time income—talk about achieving some incredible dreams!
I definitely want to remain in Shaklee’s Top 10, but I also want to double my book of business, want to start a local community with Shaklee events, groups, and a farmer’s market, want tocontinue to build my online presence, want to actively participate in public speaking events, and want to double my income.
Let’s see if I can do it! And let’s see if you can reach your 2014 goals too!
