Again, thank you for all your sweet comments from this post! Since, I had such a huge response, I thought I would share my progress in a little more detail.
First, I want to recap from my last post…. My goals for our new house are… simple, energetic, and peaceful.
My main colors are going to be white (I love white), black, gold, and natural wood tones…oh… and some copper too! I’m also going for a more mid-century modern feel. Yay!!
Each time we move, I like to change my style a little and I gotta say – I am the most excited about this new house! As I clear through my house getting ready to move, I feel like a huge weight is being lifted. I feel at peace getting rid of so much of what we own. My house is already cleaner, more organized, and everything seems to be under control.
Our house that we live in now is almost 5,ooo square feet including our finished basement and the house we are moving into is 1,900 square feet. I was kind of wondering how we are going to do that with a family of 6 so I started purging like crazy and I still have a lot to do! Trust me!
I thought I would share some of my progress so far.
I have a few thoughts going through my head as I decide to keep or donate everything…
One thing is that I keep thinking about is….. everything I read in this book. If you haven’t ready, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing”, I highly recommend it!
Another thing I think about is this bible verse about selling your items and giving them to the poor. I’m not ready to get rid of everything but thinking about this makes it a lot easier.
The last thing I think about this the quote from Steve Jobs, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
Like I said before, I not where I want to be yet but I’m working on it.
I truly believe that less is more…and with that….I want to see more “white” space. I want to see empty spots in my house.
Here is my linen closet. This makes my happy because I can see the floor – baby steps I tell ya!
This is Andrew’s closet. See all the open space. (We keep most of their toys in basement.)
This is Grace’s closet.
Here are a few more photos….
I’ll keep you updated! Right now, I need to finish all my paperwork, detail the van, and organize the kids’ desks.
